Has anybody got any tips on getting Wake on Lan to work on a Windows 11
Pro system running on an ASUS motherboard ?

There are BIOS settings to look at, Windows power settings and something
to be done at the client end

I have googled it and there seem to be various horror stories online,
but no reports of anybody getting it to work ...

It's not that horrendous, you might have to get a driver direct from the
ethernet chip manufacturer for the related "Power Management" tab to
show up in Device Manager.

The power management tab shows up OK - its a built in Realtek thing

There a check box to allow a magic packet to wake up the machine - and
some people think that you dont need to select it ?

Have you tried it? That's exactly the setting that needs to be checked.

If it's built-in rather than a separate card you might need to also set a
Uefi/bios setting.

That wake only on magic packet gets turned on so that a random burst of
data from the internet does not accidentally turn on the PC.

Following is a URL to one step-by-step kind of guide. It starts off
with how to get to the bios to turn on the motherboard feature and
continues on with configuring Windows to make the feature function as
well.
