Anyone know where I can get this? I've spent hours looking through
MS's website, to no avail.

I have an old computer that has IE 5 on it, and the software needs 6 (I
would use Mozilla but they made the software to only work on IE, and
Mozilla cant open the pages).

Also, 7 wont work, doesnt like the machine!

TIA

MS site only gives you the insaller - not the whole IE6.

Hi people,

DCA - The computer that it is going on doesn't have internet access,
so I need the distribution version

Rich - Been there thanks, not working for what I want. I think I will
have to find an old CD somewhere from an ISP for the software, as I
can't seem to find it anywhere else.

Sadly, Microsoft never made a redist version of IE6 available for
download - only the internet-based installer. There is light at the end
of the tunnel, however: there is the administration kit, which allows
you to create your own redist kit from a machine with IE6 already installed.

I think I've got a redist version I made from an IE6 SP1 install kicking
around somewhere - if you're desperate, I could bung it on a CD for you.

Hi Gareth,

I found an old freeserve cd with it on, will try that tomorrow,
otherwise I'll take you up on your offer.

Cheers.

Looks like you have a solution but no doubt it will be a branded version. If
you follow the instructions on the site below you will get a full download, I
have done this in the last week. If you tick all the boxes (see screenshots)
you get a distro suitable for all o/s which I now have on cd:
http://www.broomeman.com/support/wsiedown.html

FYI: When setting up on the target m/c, setup will try to phone home, this
can be blocked by a firewall if desired or just leave the m/c unconnected. If
the setup fails for this reason, a resume will complete it.

Be aware that installing IE6 on a Win98 m/c may result in a failure to
install 128 bit encryption resulting in failure to access secure sites. This
can be diagnosed by looking at Help > About on IE and seeing 0-bit in
stead of 128-bit Cipher Strength. Google groups for 0-bit IE6 gives the
solution.

Sorry m8, didn't realise you needed the network install.

This looks promising -
http://www.petri.co.il/download_the_full_ie_package.htm

Just tried it ( apart from actually installing ie6 ) and it looks like it
may work.

Follow the instructions and you end up with the ie6 installer and all
required cabs in a folder of your choice.

Hi Rich,

I tried that site already thanks, cant get it to download the full
thing, it opens the startup and then I agree to the agreement, then it
tells me it cant find a file, suggests I try reconnecting to the
internet and try again. Which I have done. I think I am cursed!

Hi Ben,

I know that feeling ;-)

Did a quick google for the network install version EN_IE60_SP1.exe and it
showed up a copy here
http://ftp.anadolu.edu.tr/Internet/Browsers/WINDOWS/MS_Internet_Explorer_60_EN/

Might be worth a go...
