I have written in here before how much I hate Windows Defender so sorry if
this is repetitive.

I am setting up my recently acquired HP Microserver N54L as an intelligent
NAS, i.e. it will do a bit more for me than just storage.

It's a nice clean bit of kit memory went pop within 24 hours but I had 2
x 8 GB on order and it happily runs with 16 GB.

I installed Win 10 from my trusty MBR Thumbdrive let it update put all the
stuff on, added 3 x 4 TB Iron Wolf drives got it all formatted and set up.

Excluded the 3 x backup drives from Windows Defender as I knew it would
moan about Produkey.

This morning the backup log shows:

Produkey has been removed.

Armageddon.iso had been removed.

An Android apk has been removed.

I can't find any way to restore them.

Is there an anti virus program that will at least restore things it has
quarantined rather than destroy them?

This N54L has a clean Win 8.1 sticker on the side, it is so tempting to go
back to an OS that treated me like an adult.

I asked on the Windows official forum. A MSFT employee replied suggesting
they were pirate or cracked copies, I have explained English law to him.

Windows 8.1 and Open Shell are running nicely on my N36L as is rdpwrap
(thanks to John Rumm for this, not sure if he hangs about in here). I will
have a play but I am so tempted to go back to an OS that treats me like a
reasonably intelligent person.

I can please only one person per day. Today is not your day.
Tomorrow, isn't looking good either.

Bonus - the latest N54L has a Win 8.1 Pro key label on it and it works -
had to type it in but it seems happy with it!

If it's not broken, mess around with it until it is

Windows Defender/History tab/Quarantined items/View details
The window is quite small so resize it.
Tick an item then the Resore button.
Seems to work for one item at a time only.
NB: Shows detections from removed drives.

Nirsoft products regularly show up as false positives in Windows Defender

Thank you :-)

I think it worked but I have to take into account this is an old Athlon
running at 2.2 GHz so things don't happen quite as quickly as the do on
modern machines!
